Text Box: Dr. Solberg received a master's degree in physics from UC Davis and a Ph.D. degree in biomedical physics from UCLA. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics. Dr. Solberg joined the UCLA Faculty in 1996, receiving tenure in 2000 and promotion to Full Professor in 2004. In 2001 Dr. Solberg assumed the position of Director of Medical Physics within the Department of Radiation Oncology and in 2003 was appointed Vice Chair. In this capacity he coordinates technical operations within the department. Additionally, Dr. Solberg supervises the research activities within the physics division and participates in the Biomedical Physics Graduate Program. Dr. Solberg is actively involved in professional and scientific organizations. He presently serves on the ACMP Board of Chancellors and the AAPM Board of Directors.
Dr. Solberg is actively involved in numerous research projects and has many publications to his credit. He has received grant support from the National Institutes of Health (NCI and NINDS), the American Cancer Society, the Whitaker Foundation, the State of California and various other organizations. He has active collaborations in several UCLA departments as well as with other academic institutions and with industry. In 2003, he was named an American Cancer Society Research Scholar.  In 2000 he was a recipient of a Whitaker Foundation Award.  He received a Best of Session Award at the World Congress of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics in Nice, France, a cum laude citation from the American Society of Neuroradiology, and junior scientist awards from the International Conference of Radiation Research in Wurzburg, Germany, and from the International Congress of Radiation Oncology in Kyoto, Japan.
